Why Scott
Just as someone asked me to be on nine boards of directors in five states over fifty
years, someone asked me to campaign to be a Frederick City Council member for
District 4. Just as I accepted the challenge to help lead organizations devoted to
civil liberties, child care, the deaf community, mental health, family resources, resource
conservation, local theater, the rights, responsibilities of homeowners and finding jobs
for military veterans, I accepted the challenge to help lead the City of Frederick.
The common thread is my commitment to leadership and my commitment to
organizations in which I felt a strong connection. There was no mission of any of the
organizations for which I was a board member that is not found in the mission of
the City of Frederick.

Additionally, the “why” is the opportunity to use my extensive life experience to (a)
evaluate and negotiate policies and contracts; (b) identify unique revenue opportunities;
(c) value and take action to improve individual and community health and wellness; and
(d) understand the needs of local businesses and the means to responsible growth.
